Writing samples

Give me a complex story with loads of caveats - I’ll cover it. I started out in communications as a writer on assignment. I really learnt about the principles of writing when I joined a 2018 voyage to the Southern Ocean aboard RV Investigator. Later, I was privileged to contribute to the landmark National First Peoples’ Gathering on Climate Change in 2021, which generated considered coverage, elevating Indigenous voices. Other stories I’ve pitched have featured on ABC, The Age, SBS, The Australian, and all major commercial channels.

Climate change in a land of extremes

I produced a 50 page report synthesising the outcomes of a pivotal Australian climate program that spanned 5+ years. Media coverage generated on Nine and The Guardian.

Pacific knowledge brokers: The frontline of climate adaptation

“Tell us a number so we can start planning." This is the most common response Dr Seona Meharg receives on the topic of rising sea levels. It’s actually not the biggest issue facing communities.

Tiny nanopesticides promise big gains to farmers

The potential of nanopesticides to improve the environmental footprint of farming is huge. So what’s stopped them from storming the market?

3000 years of carbon monoxide

A newly compiled record shows the positive impact of global intervention in the 1980s. I pitched this science paper as a relatable case study on how the car industry played a role.
